Idiom


1)      for you, you show me the ropes of fishing, that's why I'm still alive.
Show me You can say that again.
e.g: A: Our company needs some changes, what do you think?
B: of course Mr A, You can say that again.
When you totally agree with someone.
2)      Show someone the ropes.
e.g: I'm grateful how to do a job.
3)      Keep your hair in!
Means calm down.
4)      Has seen better days.
e.g: This radio has seen better days.
It's old and not work so well.
5)      Stand on your own two feet.
A: Please dear, be strong enough and stand on your own two feet.
Be independent.
6)      On a knife – edge
 e.g.: He lost all his money, now he is on a knife – edge.
We use this idiom to tell that someone is in a very difficult situation with worries about future.
7)      Put it down to experience
 e.g.: I had a cruel punishment yesterday, I'll not cheat again, it is not a matter, I'll put down to experience.
Use it when you decide  to learn from a bad situation.
8)      Keep your fingers crossed.
E.g.: I'll Keep my fingers crossed.
For wishes for a good luck.
9)      I've learnt my lesson.
E.g.: A: lend me some money, please.
B: Never, It'll not come back, I've learnt my lesson
When you'll not let something happen again.
10)  At the top of my agenda.
I have to learn the Holy Quran by heart, it's now at the top of my agenda.
The most important priority for me.
11)  Be in the same boat.
A: I'll call the police about the robbery.
B: You can do that, but remember, we are in the same boat.
In the same difficult situation.
12)  Put someone in the picture.
Tell him the truth, and put him in the picture.
Explain the situation to him.
